Mauritius
basks in splendid isolation in the warmest ocean of all, the Indian
Ocean, just inside the Tropic of Capricorn, bounded by Africa, India
and Australia . Mauritius is situated, approximately 2400 km off the
South East Coast of Africa . The island, which is of volcanic origin,
covers an area of 1,865 km 2 . A tropical paradise surrounded by clear,
blue water and virtually unbroken coral, it is difficult to imagine any
other place on earth being quite as perfect.
The island has what it takes and more, to satisfy the whims of
sunbathers, beachcombers, sightseers, mountaineers, swimmers,
yachtsmen, water-skiers, skin-divers, anglers, big game fishermen,
philatelists, punters, golfers, gamblers, all night ravers and ultimate
escapers. Mauritius is a marvellous mixture of many cultures and
religions including Indian, African, Chinese and European - all of
which are reflected in the local culture, language and cuisine of the
island. Port Louis , the capital is friendly and bustles with markets,
bars and restaurants.
Here, you can purchase local produce such as spices, rum and
clothing, and mingle with the locals. Mauritius , once home to the
legendary Dodo, is home to an abundance of wildlife and flowers, and
the islanders are fiercely protective of their land, and work hard to
preserve the natural rainforest by forming parks and reserves. The
turquoise lagoons teem with colourful fish, their brightly collared
fins a glorious contrast to the blue waters. The
mile upon mile of white sandy beach conjures up the most romantic of
settings. Mauritius is certa inly one of those destinations which
cannot fail to make a lasting impression.
The average day time temperature is 25° C
(75° F) and rarely under 13° C (62° F) at night. There are
two seasons, hot from November to April and warm from May to October.
On this website you will find
hotels that we have picked that we think will appeal to the South
African Market. We do however offer rates from most of the
establishments on the island. We have chosen Air Mauritius and SAA as
our choice of airlines and Mauritours as our ground operator in
Mauritius .
Mauritius will enchant you,
uplift your soul, and make you feel that you belong to the chosen few.
Every visitor enjoys personal attention. Every encounter is an
opportunity to discover a friendly face. Behind each smile lies the
promise of a unique holiday. The
contrast of a multitude of colours and tastes, the island, set in its
turquoise sea, is an oasis of peace and tranquillity. Mauritius , a
melting pot where past and present are smoothly blended
together, offers an essential beauty that will compel you to return to
its shores, time and time again. May your stay with us remain engraved
in your memory forever.
