Located at the entrance to the Blyde River Canyon Natural Reserve, is one of the great lodges in South Africa. Nestling beneath the majestic mountain range, in an area famous for its panoramic scenery, Blyde River Canyon Lodge is situated in a 80ha botanical reserve with an assortment of game, prolific birdlife and a treasure of fauna. It is a convenient 35 minutes drive to Orpen Gate and the famed Kruger National Park.

Facilities include en suite rooms, satellite TV and air-conditioning, all leading out into the gardens. A blend of Victorian and African decor combine to create an atmosphere of luxury amidst an unspoilt lowveld bush environment. A full English breakfast is served daily, while delicious country cuisine is available on request for lunch and dinner. Recreation activities include lazing at the swimming pool or enjoying some of the many adventure excursions on offer.

These include white water rafting, mountain bike trails, walking trails, 4x4 trails, abseiling or boat trips on the Blyde Dam and only a short trip to the famous Kruger National Park, God's Window and the historic Pilgrim's Rest Village.

WHITE-WATER RAFTING
BLYDE RIVER CANYON: Extreme white-water experience. Rafting the Blyde River will earn you the distinction of having rafted one of the most spectacular rivers in the world. Strenuous trip? Yes! But enjoyable with our well-trained and experience river guides every step of the way (or rather every stroke of the paddle!).The canyon is one of the most unspoilt wilderness areas in the country. It is the third biggest canyon of its kind in the world, after the Grand- and Fish River canyons. A rare opportunity to see the famous Three Rondavels from water level.
LOWER BLYDE RIVER: Enjoy a laidback and very relaxing trip on the Lower Blyde River. Ideal to fill a morning or afternoon with and the family can join in. Especially suitable filler activity between game drives and other adventure activities.
OLIFANTS GORGE RIVER RAFTING: A spectacular trip and great wilderness appeal. Ideal for family trips and corporate team building. Ideal introduction to white water rafting. A peaceful rural area with beautiful nature scenes, abundance of bird-life and baboons barking at you from the cliffs.
BLYDE DAM PLEASURE BOAT TRIP
Take a boat ride on the Blyde Dam where you can enjoy the splendour of the Blyde River Canyon. An interpretation tour by a tour guide takes you to the very rare living Kadishi tufa waterfall and the Three Rondavels. Hippo’s, crocodiles, fish eagles are among the wildlife to be seen while learning about the natural history of the third biggest canyon in the world.

4 x 4 TRIPS
TOUR: A tour in the Drakensberg mountains from the Lowveld towards the eastern escarpment. Unrivalled scenery and view can be combined with a challenging obstacle course to test driver and vehicle .
COURSE: An exercise with qualified instructors. 4x4 driving skills and vehicle recovery skills are part of this activity. An absolute must for teambuilding – teamwork, challenges, psychology, fun and rewards are all part of this activity.
QUADS: A guided tour into the Lowveld Drakensberg mountains. Bring your quad and we will supply fresh, clean mountain air and breathtaking moments.

MICRO LIGHTING
GAME SPOTTING with a difference. The highlight of any tour where you fly over Big 5 territory. Even intrepid flyers are exhilarated by the unique experience of an open-air cockpit.

HORSE RIDING
Accommodate novice to advanced riders on trails situated on the Lower Blyde River. Overnight trails and cattle herding are options that will bring out the cowboy(girl) in you!

KLOOFING
Traversing down a ‘kloof’, jumping 10m into a rock pool and abseiling a waterfall tests your guts and pushes your adrenaline levels to a high that you did not know exists.

PAINTBALL
NO PAIN, NO GAME! Friendly or fierce – you set the competition for a game of extreme paintball in bushveld surroundings – an excellent way of reducing stress levels.

BIG 5 HIKING
Eye to eye with buffalo and rhino, with you on foot, makes you realise what African Big 5 is really all about. Watching a lion-kill a mere stone throw away with only a small Mopani tree as cover, makes you really feel part of the African bush.
