Chobe Game Lodge, the only permanent game lodge situated within the Chobe National Park, is Botswana's premier venue for guests looking for a perfect base to explore the Chobe National Park & Chobe River. Chobe's wildlife roams in abundance and diversity.
It is home to the largest concentration of elephant in Africa and during the dry season these herds, as well as large herds of buffalo, congregate along the fertile flood plains of the Chobe River. Magnificent sightings of lion, wild dog, puku, red lechwe, sable, giraffe and roan antelope are also frequent in the area. The Chobe floodplain is renown for its concentration of buffalo and elephant and the late afternoon in particular, provides spectacular viewing.
ACCOMMODATION
The 48 roomed lodge overlooks the Chobe River and Caprivi floodplains. The architecture is Moorish and graceful - high arches, barrel-vault ceilings and tiled floors creating an atmosphere of spaciousness and tranquillity. All 48 rooms are tastefully furnished, each room with hand crafted Rhodesian teak furniture and walls decorated with original African carvings and paintings.
Chobe Game Lodge has 4 luxury suites, each with a private swimming pool set on a secluded terrace with breathtaking panoramic views of the open plains. The Lodge can accommodate up to 100 people in total luxury and caters for children of all ages. Children under the age of 8 years however, are excluded from participating in game drives.
FACILITIES
Facilities within the lodge include a well-stocked curio shop, wildlife reference library and a stylish Tshwene bar with full-sized Victorian pool tables overlooking the floodplains. The Chobe Game Lodges boma (outdoor eating area enclosed by reed walls) is situated under large Mahogany trees on the banks of the Chobe River. Like the rooms, the boma has been furnished in teak and leather.
Other facilities include a large swimming pool with a terrace, a riverside boma area where traditional dancers perform, a fully equipped conference room, a business centre, a stylish bar with an outside terrace overlooking the Chobe River and a cigar bar with a full sized billiard table. Meals are catered for at the terrace restaurant overlooking the Chobe River
SAFARIS
Safari activities at Chobe are diverse and exciting and tailored to suit individual requirements. Game drives are conducted in open four wheel-drive vehicles, normally early morning and late afternoon and under the leadership of qualified guides. The Chobe floodplain is renown for its concentration of buffalo and elephant and the late afternoon in particular, provides spectacular viewing.
Game viewing and fishing by small boats is also a special Chobe experience. Additionally, there are also the sunrise and sunset cruises aboard the Mosi o'Tunya, enabling you to view wildlife that congregate at the waters edge at very close range in all safety, and which provide spectacular wildlife viewing and vistas of an African sunset. For the true lover of unspoilt Africa, these safaris will capture the magnificence and very real essence of Botswana's natural landscape and wildlife heritage.
During the dry season, the herds migrate from south to north and congregate along the perennial Chobe River and fertile floodplains. The sight is spectacular and unforgettable - red winter sunsets, Elephant, Buffalo in their thousands. The quality of timeless Africa is real and very strong and the vistas are of an almost bygone era.
LOCATION
Chobe Game Lodge is situated in the Chobe National Park and access is via the park gate, approximately two hours road transfer from Victoria Falls. International access via Victoria Falls and Livingstone. In addition, Air Botswana operates a twice-weekly service
from Johannesburg to Kasane International Airport.
RATES
Rates at Chobe Game Lodge do not include flights to and from the camp, however accommodation, meals, activities and drinks are all included. Please note that the only credit cards accepted at the lodge itself are Visa cards.
2008 rates range from USD 377 per person per day low season up to USD 660 per person per day in the high season. Single supplements may apply in the high season and certain other conditions.
Apart from items of a personal nature, (camera film, staff gratuities etc) there are no hidden extras.
