On
the border of Kruger National Park lies Manyeleti, ‘The
Place of the Stars’, a true Big Five Reserve. Set
in a riverine forest, Honeyguide Mantobeni and Honeyguide
Khoka Moya Camps offer a true African experience without
sacrificing safety or comfort.
Honeyguide can be accessed either by a scenic five hour
drive from Johannesburg or by direct flight to Hoedspruit
from Johannesburg or Cape Town.
Two camps with twelve en suite tents each overlook a riverbed
or the waterhole. Leather couches, cotton sheets and damask
linen add style to comfort, and Gourmet food from the
camp’s kitchen enhances the experience. The simplicity
and style of the lounge, bar and pool complete the atmosphere.
Guests wake each morning to the sound of beating drums.
Following early morning refreshments served in the tents,
activities at Honeyguide include game drives in open game
viewing vehicles in the early morning and late afternoon
or evening.
The morning drive is followed by a sumptuous breakfast,
after which guests can relax at the pool, participate
in a short foot safari with one of the guides or view
passing game at the waterhole next to the camp.
During game drives, refreshments and complimentary snacks
are served at a scenic spot, particularly at sunset when
the view from the Mohwareng Hills is spectacular!
Mantobeni
Camp
To
experience the African bushveld as it was known to the
pioneers who first explored it, read Hemmingway. Or visit
Mantobeni.
At Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp, we have stripped away all
the barriers between the visitor and the environment.
While retaining enough of the creature comforts to satisfy
the luxury-loving animal in you.
The tented camp is set among Tamboti trees on the banks
of a riverbed. From the sundeck of the sparkling swimming
pool, you can watch elephant visiting the nearby waterhole
to enjoy their own cooling off time.
The reception area has a large lounge, indoor and outdoor
dining facilities and a complimentary bar with a climate-controlled
wine cellar, stocked with a wide range of fine South African
vintages to browse through and enjoy.
Khoka Moya Camp
To
feel really at one with the majestic wildlife and boundless
bushveld of Africa, nothing should separate you from its
wonders. At Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp you will be in
close and personal touch with your environment without
sacrificing the comforts and security you expect of a
luxury safari.
The camp has been designed to reflect the simplicity and
openness of African living. Using the universal building
material of corrugated iron, reminiscent of the houses
of the early gold prospectors, and aged planks recycled
from a previous wooden structure, Khoka Moya camp has
been created to a traditional African plan.
The communal lounge, dining and bar areas encircle an
open atrium where al fresco evening meals are served around
a massive log fire. The climate-controlled wine cellar
offers many fine South African vintages to meet your personal
tastes. Manicured green lawns flow through to the pool
and outside bar.
The large, en-suite tents are comfortably furnished in
contemporary style and have either double or twin beds
made up with fine cotton sheets and down duvets. A double
shower and separate toilet are provided and a private
veranda in the front of the tent provides a restful seating
area for you to absorb the atmosphere in peace and tranquillity.
Children’s Safari
At Honeyguide Khoka Moya, we cater for children under
the age of twelve years. Our children’s program
includes a children’s activity centre, supervised
by the camp staff where children can engage in a variety
of activities such as beadwork making, cookie making,
drawing and reading. The centre is stocked with a DVD
player and a variety of animal and nature related movies,
toys as well as a small library aimed at a younger readership.
The centre also has bathing and nappy changing facilities.
Our
swimming pool has a children’s area and we can supply
inflatable arm bands if required. We have introduced an
optional menu as an alternative for children, with food
such as pasta, fish fingers, hamburgers, hotdogs and ice-cream.
Children
are welcome to go on drives and walks with their parents.
We have also added a short (1 hour) drive for the children
after breakfast where time will be spent looking at some
of the small wonders of the bushveld, as well as the occasional
visit to the crocodile farm at Manyeleti Main Camp.
Although
Khoka Moya has always been child friendly, this is the
beginning of our children’s program and we hope
it will go from strength to strength as a result of the
expert instruction we hope to receive from our younger
guests and their parents. We also welcome any suggestions
that may improve the program.
Our
rate for children under the age of 12 years is 50% of
the adult rate and is based on the child sharing a tent
with the adult. There is no charge for children under
the age of 2 years.
Please
Note: The children’s program is at Khoka
Moya only and not at Mantobeni which only takes children
over the age of 12 years only, such older children being
recognized and charged as adults.
