PILANESBERG OVERNIGHT PACKAGES

Day 1
 Honeysuckle Tours & HolidaysGuests are collected from their hotel in Johannesburg and transported by air-conditioned microbus to the North West Province. It is a 2,5 hour drive to Pilanesberg . We continue, passing the Platinum mines and the scenery of the mixed Savannah and Acacia woodlands, until we reach the ancient volcanic crater that is now home to Sun City and the Pilanesberg game reserve. On arrival the guests are assisted with check-in procedures and then depart on an optional afternoon game drive. Dinner is served at the Lodge.

Day 2:
An optional morning game drive will be conducted until breakfast, which will be provided at the lodge. During the warmer parts of the day there is a leisure period until the next optional exciting afternoon / evening drive begins. Dinner is served at the Lodges.

Day 3:
Similar to the previous day, we begin with an early morning game drive followed by breakfast. After breakfast and check out you have the option to visit Sun City which is situated adjacent to the Pilanesberg. Upon entry to the valley of the Sun you will be given an orientation of the resort and then you are at leisure to explore your surroundings. We meet up in the late afternoon and then make our way back to Johannesburg arriving in the late afternoon.

JOHANNESBURG & PRETORIA DAY TOURS

Half day Soweto Tour
 Honeysuckle Tours & HolidaysGuests are collected from major hotels and transferred with an air-conditioned microbus to Soweto. The tour will include a visit to the busiest taxi rank in Johannesburg and a view of Soweto and the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. We continue to a shanty town settlement, Regina Mundi Church and Wandies Shebeen. We pause at Hector Peterson Square, and make our way on to the Mandela Family Museum. From here we show you the “Beverley Hills” of Soweto, and make our way back to the Northern Suburbs.

Half day Gold Reef City Tour
Gold Reef City is built around the shaft of what was once the richest gold mine in the world. This living museum recaptures the riotous times of Johannesburg’s gold-rush era. There are reconstructed streets with pubs and restaurants. The tour will include an underground mine tour, a live pouring of liquid gold into bullion and a demonstration of traditional tribal and miners’ gumboot dances. We return to the hotels to drop the guests.

Half Day Apartheid Museum
Guests are transferred from their hotel directly to the venue. Here we are taken through the history books into the early struggle. The tour then ends with modern history of the new Rainbow Nation in the 21st century.

Half day Elephant Sanctuary Tour
(08h30 – 14h30 or 12h30 – 18h30)
This is a special place in the heart of the beautiful African Bushveld where guests will meet and feed the elephants: Mosadi, Maroela, Khumba, Thandi and Jabu. Elephants are highly intelligent and delightful and you will discover a different character, personality and temperament within each one. The guides will share interesting facts about the bush and the magnificent African Elephant. Light refreshments and snacks are served before we return to the hotel.

Half day Lesedi Cultural Village Tour
We will be welcomed and shown the traditional villages of the Zulu, Ndebele, Sotho, Pedi and Xhosa. Perhaps you would like to taste some home grown African beer! We will then be treated to a spectacular performance of tribal dancing in time to loud drum beating & passionate African song. By now you’ll be very hungry - just in time to experience “Nyama Choma” (The greatest African feast), served buffet style with dishes such as tasty crocodile being part of the large variety of other South African Delicacies.

Half day Cullinan Tour
Guests are transferred from Johannesburg to Cullinan via Pretoria in one of our air-conditioned microbuses. The Premier Transvaal Diamond Mine was started by Thomas Cullinan 1902. Three years later the most significant diamond was found - a whopping 3 106 carats.
After your guided tour of the mine, there will be time to view the 500m deep pit (twice as large as the Kimberly Big Hole)
Should you want to purchase a diamond, we visit the Cullinan Diamond Market.

Half day Rhino and Lion Park
Guests are transferred with an air-conditioned microbus to the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve. Here we can view lion, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, hippo, wild dogs and more than 20 other species totalling over 600 head of game. Guests may purchase refreshments at the Croc Pub, overlooking a crocodile pool. We continue in the reserve, and view the breeding projects as we leave the main gate.

Lunch or Dinner at the World Renowned Carnivore
Guests are collected from their hotels, and transported directly to the Misty Hills Hotel where we will be greeted by the host of the Carnivore Restaurant. We are introduced to dishes available, and then the feast begins. Waiters bring the lazy Susan with salads and sauces, then the dishes are brought to the tables one by one. We sample many different meats, and finally admit defeat by knocking over the white flag.
Dessert (space permitting). No trip to the Carnivore restaurant will be complete without a Dawa Drink – drinks extra.

Guests are transferred by an air-conditioned microbus to the North West Province. Our first stop is at Sun City where we you can visit the Valley of the Waves, experience the bird of prey demonstration, view the Lost City and visit the Entertainment center. We spend the rest of the afternoon in the Pilanesberg National Park which is the fifth largest game reserve in South Africa. It was created in 1979 and offers visitors the chance to see the Big Five plus cheetah and wild dog. We return by early evening.

Full day Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve and Sterkfontein Caves Tour
Guests are transferred with an air-conditioned microbus to the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve. Here we can view lion, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, hippo, wild dogs and more than 20 other species totalling over 600 head of game. Guests may purchase refreshments at the Croc Pub, overlooking a crocodile pool. We continue to the Sterkfontein Caves, which has proved to be one of the richest and most productive palaeo-anthropological sites in the world. Amongst the most remarkable findings are the famous Mrs. Ples, the first complete Australopithecus skull and “Little Foot”. We visit the Robert Broom Museum which houses a collection of fossils and stone tools found in the area.

Full day Cullinan and Pretoria City Tour
Guests are transferred in an air-conditioned microbus to Cullinan where we are shown an introductory video about Diamond mining in Southern Africa. We then make our way across the road to begin the tour. Here we see replicas of the famous diamonds found, and shown around on the surface – this gives the visitor an in-depth insight into the real value of a diamond. From the view site of the open pit, we make our way to the Jewellery stores on site, then make our way to Pretoria for lunch. It is the administrative capital of South Africa. Here we visit the Union Buildings where Mr Mandela was inaugurated in 1994. We visit Church Square, Kruger House and the Voortrekker Monument which commemorates the battle between the Boers and Zulus on 16 December 1838. We also pause outside the City Hall and Natural History museum. Guests are dropped off at their various hotels having delved briefly into the history books of this wonderful country!
