Kings
Walden, which has a three-star guest house grading, is
an authentic, traditional English "Colonial"
establishment, housing original turn of the previous century
antiques, family heirlooms and African artifacts. The
original homestead was built in 1904. From Kings Walden
you can drive or hike in mountains and forests, visit
waterfalls, go boating or fishing on dams, play golf -
or just gaze at the ever-changing vistas of mountains
and lowveld.

Kings Walden is an ideal stopover between Johannesburg
and the Kruger Park. The lodge, situated in 3 ha of formal
English gardens with spectacular views of mountains and
low country, will indulge you in a grand old traditional
atmosphere with spacious suites furnished with individual
cottage decor. On misty mornings, read a magazine In front
of your own fireplace, enjoy the superb cuisine, relax
in a tranquil environment. When the sun shines, order
a picnic at the swimming pool, take a leisurely walk in
the nearby forest, listen to the bird calls....
The Kings Walden gardens have been named by the magazine
"House & Leisure" as the most romantic garden
featured in the magazine over the last 100 issues. Under
the heading, "Great Gardens and Memorable Gardeners",
the gardening editor, Laurian Brown wrote: "The dreaming
heights of Kings Walden, its bold vistas, intimate rooms,
secret paths and poetic detail, but most of all its extraordinary
spirit, make it our most romantic garden."
The gardens are open to the public on a daily basis and
visitors are served tea and scones on the terraces. Picnics
can be ordered by prior arrangement.
