At Leopard Rock Hotel, visitors can enjoy as much peace and beauty - or action and adventure - as they wish. It is a tournament venue, a holiday base, a conference hotel, a night out with a chance to win in the casino, a romantic indulgence or a home from home. All you do, is choose.
The hotel accommodation is either situated in the ‘Turret’ wing, which comprises the old part of the hotel, or the “Casino” wing, which was built more recently at the time of the major re-development. All rooms however are of the same high standard. Guests will find complimentary tea/coffee making facilities in their room. There is 24-hour room service. All rooms are equipped with shower, bath, hair dryer, smoke detector & sprinkler system, safety deposit box, direct dial telephone, wall to wall carpeting, satellite TV, 13amp 220volt plugs. Some rooms have balconies and all suites have mini-bars.
THE CASINO
Try some after-dark fun and entertainment in our glittering casino. The Leopard Rock Casino is self-contained with its own entrance just off the hotel reception, and forms part of the "new" wing. We have installed the most up to date casino facilities in Zimbabwe, and offer the following games:
- 6 American Roulette tables
- 6 Black Jack tables
- Slot and Poker Machines
- 82 state-of-the-art machines imported from Las Vegas
- 3 Jackpot Progressives
A plush cocktail bar, the Baccarat Bar, welcomes early players and guests when slot machines open at 10:00 am daily. Tables open as from 8:00 pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends. There is also a well-appointed Salon Privé which can be booked in advance for private functions and gaming groups.
THE GOLF COURSE
Hailed as one of the "Finest Golf Resorts" in the world by the PGA of Europe, and one of the most challenging too. The course was the official venue for the Zone 6 Amateur International Championships in 2000. The Leopard Rock Classic Professional Tournament is held annually in October. In addition, the course was voted the Best Golf Course in Africa/Middle East as the HERTZ International Travel Awards in 2000. Sweeping around and in front of the hotel itself, the magnificent 18-hole championship course was designed by Peter Matkovitch, who used the indigenous vegetation and topography as a feature - hundreds of trees and plants endemic to the Vumba ecosystem were added as the course and its water hazards took shape. The greens are a Penncross Creeping Bent grass, the first time this very fine grass had been used in Zimbabwe - indeed in central Africa. The fairways are Kikuyu, a natural ground cover from Kenya. Players enjoy breathtaking views that plunge into the valley below the course, then sweep up to a panorama of mountains beyond. At times, the vertical drop from the tee box to the pin is breathtaking, too. As the designer says of his courses, "..most of all, the golf course must be fun to play, for all classes of golfer." Non-resident players can play and pay on a casual basis or join the Country Club as an Individual or Corporate member.
