of old leather, fine cognac and times when life seemed

Previously,
Lord Fraser Guest House was the summer residence of the
well-known, blind Lord Ian Fraser of Lonsdale. He was
the chairman of the board of the once powerful retail
business, Frasers, in Lesotho.
In
Keeping with the style of Lord Fraser we, the hosts and
staff, are dedicated to making your stay a memorable and
aristocratic experience. Upon arrival you are shown your
beautiful suite where you will be able to relax from your
journey, set aside the modern day stress and enjoy the
luxury that is The Lord Fraser Guest House. You will enjoy
drinks in the Stable and take a cool swim in the pool.
That evening you will dine in style. Our cuisine is of
the highest standard.
After
dinner you may retire to the patio, there to enjoy a nightcap
of cognac or liqueur. On waking up the next morning, feeling
refreshed and invigorated, you can enjoy a hearty farm-style
breakfast ready to resume your journey or enjoy the attractions
in the area or neighboring Lesotho.

facilities for 40 people available in a restful atmosphere.
Each
double suite was carefully restored to its original style
and tastefully decorated to create the authentic feeling.
Nine suites are in the old Fraser House and the other
in the old stable on the property. Lord Fraser Guest House
is a full service Guest House and offers comfortable
and homely surroundings with spacious bedrooms (en-suite
bathrooms), affordable rates and excellent service
Recreation
facilities are numerous. For the more adventurous there
is a hiking-trail, mountain-cycle route and a 4x4 route
used by the Caledon 400 Rally annually. The latter has
been recognized internationally. Anglers can enjoy excellent
angling at two state-owned damn as well as at the farm
dams. Tennis and bowls are also available.
Also
available is the Lord Fraser Restaurant for breakfasts
and buffet and A la Carte dinners as well as a Tea Garden
and Bar.
Wepener
is conveniently situated on the R26 about 64 kilometers
north of Zastron and 100 kilometers south of Ladybrand.
It is a convenient stop-over place for those traveling
either to and from the Cape or Johannesburg, Natal and
the Lowfeld.
Lots
of tourist attractions are available within walking distance.
Just a visit to the library or the municipal property
is worth the while already. The beautiful town hall, the
monument gate with prominent statue of Cmdt. Louw Wepener
and a few other attractions will impress. The architectural
NG Church that towers above the town is something spectacular.
The long steel bridge over the Caledon river, which is
on it's own a national treasure is also something to see.
The flood marks and consequences of the disastrous flood
in February 1988 is still clearly visible.
There
are many Anglo-Boer War battle sites in the region. The
invest of Jammerbergdrif, which could be seen as one of
the largest, is clearly depicted on the walls of the library.
