Cape
St Francis is situated at the most southerly Cape in the
Eastern Cape. It boasts with the Cape St Francis Light
House, a National Monument, built in 1878 at Seal Point.
The village was only proclaimed in 1965.

5 en-suite bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the
panoramic views of the sea, Seal Point surf and the beach
break are breathtaking and exhilarating
The
two lounges are spacious, elegant and comfortable. The
lounge balcony upstairs is ideal for a relaxing read and
the verandah downstairs perfect for breakfast.
All
our streets in Cape St Francis have been named after shipwrecks
along this coastline.
Keeping
with the tradition The Lyngenfjord House B&B is named
after the Lyngenfjord which sank in 1938.
ATTRACTIONS
Our pristine beach should be listed as one of the Blue
Flag Beaches in South Africa. It is safe to swim here
and the walk is about 4 km long towards Cape St Francis
Point. From August until end October we often have whales
in the bay and the dolphins visit the surf regularly.
Here
are a number of Nature Reserves, ie Irma Booysen Nature
Reserve, Seal Point Nature Reserve, Seal Bay Nature Reserve
and Cape St Francis Nature Reserve. August is the best
month when the Coastal Fynbos is flowering. A walk along
the Sand River, which transports ±80,000 cub meters
of sand from Oyster Bay to St Francis Bay annually, is
a phenomenal experience.
Seal
Point is one of the most famous surfing spots in the world.
You may recall the movie at Bruce's Beauties, called "The
Endless Summer", which is just around the Cape St
Francis Point. The Beach Break here at Cape St Francis
is excellent for the careful surfer.
Links
can be made for the adventures offered in the area. There
is an 18 hole Golf Course in St Francis Bay as well as
bowling facilities. The tennis courts are here in Cape
St Francis. Other opportunities such as a canal or river
cruise, deep sea fishing, 4 x 4 drive on the beach, 4
x 4 motor biking, sand boarding or a cultural outing can
be arranged.
At
Humansdorp the Cultural Centre will be opened in November
2001, where the origin of Modern Mankind is explained.
This is the area where the 5 major cultures met in South
Africa: the Khoi living along the coast, the San from
the Baviaans and Langkloof, the African blacks (the most
southerly point to which these people progressed in Africa),
the Trek Boere (Normadic
Farmers) from the Western Cape and the British Settlers
from Grahamstown.
Shopping
is limited to a café and mini market. We have Medical
Doctors in the village to tend to you if required. In
St Francis Bay you will find most amenities. In Cape St
Francis we have two excellent restaurants and in St Francis
Bay and Port St Francis there are numerous.
