In rustic serenity, Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre & Spa lies nestled at the foothills of the Swartkop mountains, on the threshold of the beautiful Kromdraai valley – a World Heritage site known as The Cradle of Humankind, where scientists are investigating the origins of man.
This charming venue is set in lush landscaped gardens displaying an abundance of indigenous plants and birdlife. Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre & Spa is an affiliate of the renowned Warwick International group of hotels, based in Paris, France. Over the past fifteen years, this charming stone-built complex has tastefully been converted into a country hotel and conference centre that captures the culture of Africa. Accommodation comprises 151 stone-built thatched rooms, which includes seven Executive suites, all elegantly furnished to compliment the indigenous surrounds. Four Royal and two Presidential suites, with enclosed gardens and plunge pools, offer the discerning guest privacy and exclusivity. Offering 20 uniquely African conference and events venues, Misty Hills promises an ideal setting for business meetings, training or teambuilding exercises. The largest is the Pelindaba, seating 800 people cinema-style, and can be divided into two sections; the Lapa is perfect for informal outdoor gatherings and team building while the Tusker Pavillion, which adjoins an enclosed pool terrace, is ideal for weddings and small gatherings. Other venues include Impala, Springbok, Nyala, Reedbuck, Hartebeest, Zebra and Bali plus a variety of small break-away rooms.
Onsite facilities include the tranquil Spa in the Country, where you can relax, unwind and rejuvenate under the African sky. This haven of tranquility offers daily packages as well as weekend anti-stress specials where weary people can indulge themselves with massages, aromatherapy, stone rock therapy, facials, reflexology, manicures, pedicures and other treatments. A truly exclusive African concept offered by the Spa in the Country is the Signature room. Here couples are allowed to enjoy an invigorating Spa experience in total privacy. The Carnivore Johannesburg is a franchise of the world famous restaurant in Nairobi, Kenya, and was brought to South Africa by Robert Forsyth, Executive Chairman of the Recreation Africa group. Opened in November 1993, the Carnivore has undergone three expansions and now seats up to 550 people. Over the years it has won several awards, including “Best Traditional Restaurant” and “Best Restaurant to Take Tourists to” Carnivore’s unique dining concept is truly “Africa’s Greatest Eating Experience”. Guests enter over a teak walkway surrounded by indigenous gardens, water features and a large Koi pond, through a magnificent carved door and into the “Hall of Kings” which gives diners a taste of African tradition. Life-size statues of great Southern African Kings, such as King Shaka of the Zulus and King Moshoeshoe of Lesotho have been placed in the entrance. The Carnivore offers a selection of succulent, charcoal-grilled game and domestic meats, skewered onto Masaai swords and cooked to perfection over an open fire. This “Beast of a Feast” only stops when you put down your flag in surrender. Misty Hills prides itself on offering great African hospitality and is located only 30 minutes away from Johannesburg and 45 minutes from Pretoria.
Misty Hills has been awarded a 4-star tourism grading.
