The
Montagu Country Hotel was built in 1875 and is the oldest
accommodation establishment in the village. The hotel is
now owned by Gert Lubbe, who has retained many of the building's
original Art Deco touches and added a few of his own. The
result is a typical country hotel with an air of stylish
simplicity.
Our
luxury rooms are in a Victorian Villa built in 1905 in
the garden behind the main hotel. The Villa is light heartedly
furnished with soft colours of beige, browns, rust and
black, which gives one the feeling of Victorian splendour
with a strong element of Africa. Some beautiful Antique
pieces round off this modernistic approach to decor. The
Villa
offers four bedrooms – 2 twin-bedded, 1 Queen and
1 King size. The views
on the mountains from here
make these rooms something very special to experience.
Our classic rooms are in the main block
of the Art Deco hotel. They are decorated, with colours
to suit that fun period in the history of this joyous
1930\40’s Charleston mood. Soft yellows compliment
decoupage pinks to emphasize the element of optimism that
made this period of décor in the history something
of an enigma.

or meat based
