Situated as we are in Malelane, Mpumalanga on the Southern Border of the Kruger National Park, we are the ideal base from which to explore Big 5 country as well as the scenic wonders of Swaziland and attractions of Mozambique – both border posts are a 40 min drive from our Lodge. River House is 60 km from Nelspruit, one of the host venues for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer, and will be the ideal home base far from the madding crowds !

At the river's edge we have a large thatched deck which is the ideal spot from which to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Bushveld, whilst enjoying a drink from our fully stocked bar.. Alternatively laze in the pool observing hippo and crocodile in the river below. Or simply retire to our comfortable lounge with a book when relaxing becomes hard work !!

At River House we do not have television nor radio and most often newspapers are frowned upon – news in our world is when a leopard is spotted at the river ...

Our comfortable 5 Star graded Guest House is located on the banks of the Crocodile river, in complete harmony with the African bush. We have 12 individually decorated en – suite bedrooms with a choice of either 2 singles or 1 double bed. All bathrooms have a shower over bath, hairdryer and amenities are provided, whilst the rooms have coffee making facilities, ceiling fans as well as being air-conditioned. Every room has a private balcony with superb river and Kruger Park South views. Apart from the chance of spotting lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, rhino and much more (as we do!) our garden is a bird watchers' paradise. Apart from our bedrooms River House has one self-catering unit which can sleep up to 6 people. It is fully equipped and comfortable whilst not as the same standard of the house. Naturally our pool, deck and garden can be enjoyed by those who prefer a self-catering option.

Back home the original pump house under our deck has been converted into an intimate chapel for fairy tale weddings. Gay flower filled candlelit ceremonies have often been interrupted by 4 legged visitors, much to the delight of the bridal couple and their invited entourage – anything is possible when you exchange vows on the fringes of the jungle …. Small personalized weddings are tailor made to suit most every couples' whims, needs and for this once in a lifetime event the complete function will be arranged and coordinated by River House.

For the energetically inclined we can arrange various activities in the surrounding area. These, however, need to be booked well in advance and include:
— Open vehicle safari drives into Kruger, either full day or morning only.
— Sundowner drive extending into night drive followed by Boma dinner on a private reserve.
— Elephant rides, interaction or walks.
— Micro lighting
— Visit a Swazi Cultural Village for tour, meal, traditional dancing (& curio shopping)
— Day excursions into both Mozambique and Swaziland.


RATES
Inclusive of breakfast. Single Supplement will only be charged during peak periods when the lodge is full. For other periods the sharing rate will apply to singles. No children under 13.
