Superbly situated close to the big game
viewing area of the 36 000 hectare Welgevonden Game Reserve,
Shibula Lodge hugs a scenic river and has magnificent
views of the over-hanging  cliffs,where
the antics of the resident baboon troop will entertain
guests. This malaria-free reserve, where the Big Five
roam freely, is home to an extraordinary diversity of
plant and animal life as well as more than 350 species
of birds.
Each of Shibula's eight luxury
rooms has its own patio and an outside shower, ideal for a moonlight
rendezvous for the brave at heart. The 5 larger suites has a separate
lounge area each. The romantic honeymoon hideaway boasts its own spa
bath, while lavishly equipped executive suites has its own Jacuzzi. The
Shibula Royal Suite features a private plunge pool, along with the
ultimate in luxury and service.
 The
superbly decorated main lodge boasts a library well stocked
with information on wildlife, birds and plants - and an
elegant lounge and dining area, complete with a baby grand
piano. A sprawling deck with magnificent views leads one
to a communal swimming pool, perfect for sundowners as
the sun bows to the majestic moon.
An excellent cellar complements the healthy,
distinctly African inspired cuisine and discreet personalised
service allows guests to an individually tailored balance
of superb safari experience and relaxing spa activities.

banks of the river, under the watchful eye of a ranger,

Pre-breakfast game drives or bush-walks for the adventurous,
high teas of mouth watering surprises, evening game drives
with sundowners and cosy, boma dinners all contribute

Our
spa facility is the best in Welgevonden. Arline Schutte who is our spa
therapist and her two assistants ensure that clients receive wonderful
treatments. The quality of service at Shibula is better than ever and
our staff complement of 14 staff for our 16 guests distinguishes the
lodge with a higher staff guest ratio than almost all other lodges in
Welgevonden. This assures our guests of quality service at all times and
underlines the status of Shibula Lodge being one of the top 3 lodges in
Welgevonden, if not the best.
Road transfer to Shibula Lodge takes 2h30
hours by road from Johannesburg or 45 minutes by private
air charter.
RATES
Inclusive of accommodation, all
meals, two game drives in an open safari vehicle per day, use of fitness
facility, return transfers from Main Gate or Shibula airstrip to the
lodge at the allocated pick up times and check out times & 1%
Tourism levy. Rates exclude Welgevonden Game Reserve entrance levy of R
65.00 per person per night, all beverages from the bar / mini bar, Spa
treatments. private wine cellar dinner, additional extras of a personal
nature (laundry, telephone, curio purchase etc), private transfers
to/from Welgevonden Private Game Reserve (by air or road). Children aged
12 and above pay the full adult rate. Children under 12 by special arrangement and pay 50% of the adult rate.

- Guests will be collected at Welgevonden's Main Gate and transferred to Shibula Lodge. The drive is approximately 45 minutes.
- No private vehicles are allowed on the reserve. Your vehicles will stay at Main Gate car park, which provides 24-hour security.
- Check out time is 11h00.
- Gate check- in or check- out, other than the allocated times needs to be arranged with the reservations office.
- Late or earlier check in/out are charged at R 350 per vehicle transfer.
