She will be returning to South Africa for a 4th time during the 2012/2013 season (replacing the MSC Melody) for 30 local cruises (28 NOVEMBER 2012 to 15 APRIL 2013) ranging from 2 to 12 nights. Cruises will operate from Durban as well as Cape town to destinations such as Mozambique, Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar, Namibia & Mossel Bay and will include a Whale Watching cruise along the SA coast and, for the first time, a cruise to St Helena. The Southbound (19 nights) & Northbound (18 nights) cruises between Italy and South Africa now follows a West Africa itinerary (to completely remove any threat to its passengers from Somali pirates), departing from Genoa in Italy and Cape Town in South Africa. The new West Coast itinerary has been expertly designed to offer a stimulating and varied combination of city life, ancient sites, wildlife, beaches and beautiful landscapes.

A brand new vessel for SA waters – the MSC OPERA – will also be visiting our shores. The MSC Opera was built in 2004 (2 years after the MSC Sinfonia) and is the sister ship of the MSC Sinfonia. She is slightly larger with 79 more cabins (856 in total) of which 172 are Balcony Cabins and a further 28 are Balcony Suites. Inter-leading cabins are available for families of up to 4. She will be offering 27 local cruises (20 NOVEMBER 2012 to 05 MARCH 2013) including a selection of Cape Town cruises from 21 February 2013, a Madagascar cruise over Christmas and a Mauritius cruise over New Year. Cruises will also operate to destinations in Namibia and Mozambique. The Southbound (19 nights) & Northbound (18 nights) cruises between Italy and South Africa follows a similar route to the MSC Sinfonia.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO LOCAL CRUISES FROM 31 MARCH 2012 UP TO 20 NOVEMBER 2012. DURING THIS TIME CRUISES TAKE PLACE IN EUROPEAN WATERS BEFORE RESUMING ONCE AGAIN FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN SUMMER SEASON.
