Surrounded
by the Drakensberg Mountains and overlooking the Spioenkop
Nature Reserve lies Three Tree Hill Lodge. There are 6
en suite rooms. Open spaces, large verandas and colonial "wood and iron" construction are features of
this lodge. Here, upon the hill behind the lodge with
the sun setting over
the Drakensberg, you will hear of the origins of the Anglo-Boer
war. In the morning as you tour the battlefield, the drama
of Spioenkop (the bloodiest day of the war) comes to life.
Playing a role in this moving story were Louis Botha,
Deneys Reitz, Winston Churchill and Mohandas Gandhi.
The Lodge overlooks the Spioenkop Nature Reserve, which
contains white rhino, giraffe, zebra, eland, kudu, numerous
smaller antelope and 270 recorded bird species. A
viewing deck, swimming pool, library and wonderful walks
offer complete relaxation in a truly African setting.
Each of the six twin cottages has its own bath, shower
and verandah, with magnificent views of Spioenkop - even
from the bath.
Three Tree Hill's cuisine is a unique fusion of home and
modern flavours. Enjoy leisurely meals and conversation
on the cool wide verandahs of the lodge.
