 Situated in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, on the edge of the Kalahari desert, Tswalu is the largest privately owned game reserve is South Africa. Tswalu has over 70 different species of animals and over 220 different species of birds and owes its existence to the need to protect some of Africa's most endangered species. Here is a living conservation project of international significance, not simply a safari destination. Urgent priority was given to the breeding of the rare Desert Black Rhinos, the Roan and Sable antelope, the disease free Cape Buffalo and the rare King Cheetah.

The Motse
Designed to blend inconspicuously into the surrounding mountain range (made from desert sand with thatch roofs), Motse consists of eight spacious legae (suites) - designed in classic African style whilst offering unrivalled elegance. Two of the eight are Family legae (suites) sleeping four people each and were designed for families or two couples travelling together. Each legae (suite) comprises an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, outside shower, private lounge, open fireplace, private sun deck, telephone, safe and mini bar and a stunning Kalahari view. Additional features of Motse are the lounge and dining area, library, traditional African Boma, Dimpho (Gift Shop), Jwa Bana (Children’s Room with Child Minder), wine cellar, sun deck and outdoor heated swimming pool. Guests can dine  under the stars in the traditional African boma. In addition, there is a walk in wine cellar stocked with the Oppenheimer Collection and South African wines, a mezzanine library with TV/satellite, Dimpho (gift shop) (a gift shop) and Jwa Bana (children's room).
Tarkuni
This exclusive lodge is set powerfully amid two rolling mountain ranges in its own private area of Tswalu Kalahari Reserve. It is ideal for small groups and families - Tarkuni can accommodate 10 adults and four children. Tarkuni comprises four luxury bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor shower, open plan lounge and dining room, library, covered patio and heated swimming pool. Children’s accommodation comprises two sets of bunk beds, sleeping four. The nannies room accommodation comprises of two single beds and bathroom en suite. A private game viewing vehicle and a dedicated Chef allow the luxury of flexibility.
